FAQs
How do I get a library card?
Library cards are available to any adult residing in Montgomery County who can present identification that includes both their name and current address (such as a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or ID card, lease agreement, or tax or utility bill from the past three months). There are no age restrictions for obtaining a library card, but children under the age of 18 need a parent’s signature on the registration form.
Select member libraries may offer printable registration forms on their websites. Visit your local public library to learn more.
How much does a library card cost?
Library cards are free to all Montgomery County residents.
How much are fines?
Fines vary from library to library. Contact your local public library to learn more.
Can I return borrowed items to another library?
Yes, library materials can be returned to any of the MCPL member libraries. Library materials may also be returned at any Access PA participating library. Some exceptions depending upon the material type may apply. Contact your local public library to learn more.
Can I use my card at another library?
Any library card from a state-aided MCPL member library should bear an Access Pennsylvania sticker. This sticker will allow you to borrow materials at other MCPL member libraries and physical items at most Pennsylvania public libraries.
